Hello Foodies and welcome to my next blog entry which highlights one of Belfast's newest, quirkiest and tastiest eateries - Wolf and Devour is the creme de la creme of alfresco dining!
I had been threatening to visit this place for a few months now but work always got in the way (damn you adulthood) but the St Patrick's day Public Holiday gave me the perfect opportunity to finally let my taste buds sample their fine work, and I was not disappointed!
Established in April 2015 and located right beside our very own iconic 'Big Fish' Wolf & Devour provide an alternative eating experience that many of us may not be accustomed too. A luxurious food truck/street kitchen is a simple yet effective way to describe this creative venture and I stress the word luxurious.
Most food trucks serve up the regular beef patty, served with a slice of cheese which gets smothered between a partially frozen bap, if anyone has regrettably left Thompsons Garage in a quest to cure hunger/soak up alcohol they will undoubtedly know what I mean. But not Wolf & Devour, they provide a fantastically fresh, home grown local and creative menu featuring dishes which wouldn't look out of place on a restaurant menu - and I can vouch, they're just a tasty too.
Dishes include; The signature Wolf Burger, Harissa Chicken Wrap, BBQ pulled pork Focaccia as well as Sweet Potato Fries and they even have their own take on a Full Soda. The menu really is inventive, it changes regularly so add them on Facebook and check it out for yourself!

To The Food
It took me a while to decide, do I go for the Beef Brisket? Do I indulge in a ceaser salad? (and yes these kind of dishes are cooked freshly and presented superbly from a food truck) In the end I decided on the Harissa Chicken wrap and Lauren went for the FIlled Soda.
So the wrap was pretty huge, so I took out two of the Goujons - swapped Laurie one for in exchange that she promised to leave me some soda and ate the other. The wrap was soooo tasty, The goujons were crispy, the mayo spicy, the slaw was superb and the colours were amazing! Honestly I was sat there eating this thinking, I can't believe this just came from a truck and tastes this good!!! I was always expecting it to taste nice from their photos on Facebook but I didn't expect to be blown away; and I was!
Laurie, and I quote said 'this is the best filled soda I have ever had' and she's a fussy wee girl so that is saying something. She absolutely devoured it (yes I totally meant that pun) I too tried the soda and it was the relish for me that made it sooo nice!
Local
What I love most about this venture is that they could just appeal to the mass market, they could just serve up regular burgers, or just do normal filled sodas and greasy chips but they don't! They source local produce and transform it into tasty dishes which are definitely moreish, for example their beef and pork comes from Hannan's farm, they use Portavogie prawns in their fishcakes, they use Cavanagh's eggs and Ballymahoe Relish so remember, when you visit, you're not only getting great food but you're supporting a host of local businesses, local farms and local people and that's what makes it special! A huge congratulations to the Wolf and Devour team who not only have one of the best names I've came across but also serve up fantastic food and do it with a smile! My only hope is that this really takes off and they get a more central location because the people of Belfast need to eat this food, YOU need to eat this food!
