Jack Harleys - Belfast

So my latest taste of Belfast took me Jack Harleys; an authentic American grill house located in Finaghy and part of the Devenish Complex! Laurie was at her Wonder-Woman class so this blog was actually a man-date, a chance for me and Wee Dan to elevate our bromance to the next level - I think we did.

So I am going to divide this blog into 3 areas; Food, Staff and Setting - something a bit different but it means you can skip to the part you want to (happy face emoji)

FOOD

If you're craving some American style food, with American sized portions, you'll Harley look anywhere else! From Hot-dogs to Burgers, Seafood to Pasta, Bottomless Cokes to Boozy Shakes this diverse menu will certainly have you taste buds firing!

I always take a while to study the menu, I actually like to keep it with me during the meal so that I can plan my next visit - Top Tip! First of all this menu looks super cool, it's fun and engaging and full of tasty treats!

Starter

We had already decided that we were going to get the Jack's Sharing Plate, £8.95, for starter Holy Moses - this was majestic, a sharing platter of Nachos (beaut) Jack's famous hot wings, goujons and onion rings!

As you can see this was Wee Dan's first outing - Laurie knows I need to take 3-4 photos but Dan just swamped right in there!

This was super tasty, massive, in fact all the portions are massive, you won't go hungry at Harleys!! The NACHOOOOOOOSSSSS were so good, crunchy and cheesy and the whole platter came with 3 dips - the whole thing was presented really well using a funky tiered thingy magiggy! You'll have to visit to see what I mean!

Mains

for mains though it was a tough choice, got it down to 3 though;

- The Utah Stack Burger - a 6oz burger topped with bacon, pepper sauce and stacked with tobacco onions. (£9.50 with a side)

- Lightly Spiced Chilli Pita - Chicken or beef marinated in chilli sauce and served with onions and peppers loaded into a pita pocket (£10.95 with a side)

- Jack's Hot Dog - A footlong hot dog served with onions, american mustard and ketchup (£9.50 with a side)

Wee Dan decided on The Monterey Jalapeño Burger and I, after much deliberation decided, finally on the Chicken Chilli Pita! I have had a burger from here before and I can vouch for them; they are super tasty! I wanted to try something I normally wouldn't order so the Chilli Pita was ideal, not only was it ideal, it was scrumptious (except the slaw, it was average) and came with garlic chilli twisty fries - great but I challenge you to finish them! There was actually the option to upgrade your side to - Fries with Flavour and these include Taco Fries n BBQ pulled Pork fries - a guy beside us got the Taco Fries - a MOUNTAIN!

Dessert

The Dessert Section is unreal, all home made, all irresistible - you could get Banoffee, Cookies, Ice Creams, Cheese Cakes, Brownies and many many more and the best thing is they are all on display! I Had to go for the Raspberry Ruffle Cheese Cake, it was calling my name all through the main! Dan went for a Latte and Cookie - Just a we side note - my cheesecake came with ice-cream and 3 mini brownies - these brownies stole my heart!

Setting

So walking into Harleys is like walking into a modern American Diner, the décor is cool, the de-constructed Harley Davidson is amazing and there's music playing in the back ground, they have also been very clever with their branding - Harley's glasses, Harley's plates, in fact everything is branded which shows the thought that went into this place! Its authentic, it's tasty and it's great value for money!

The Staff

I am a weirdo when it comes to staff, I hate overly fussy staff who want to tell me the ingredients of my wine but equally I hate inattentive staff who don't come near you - I guess you could call me fussy! . Harley's have got their staffing right, our waitress for the night was Vicky, she was friendly, filled up our bottomless cokes and even brought us over some Champers to end the meal (see photo - Wee Dan wanted a photo of him in the blog)

In the kitchen, Head Chef Peter Ireland has created a menu for all, tasty grub and although I haven't tried them.... yet, apparently the ribs are the "best in Belfast" (Actual customer quote) Peter deserves a pat on the back, maybe even 2 or 3 for those desserts...yum!

The staff created a really nice atmosphere, the service was quick and food was tasty - what more do you want!
