Green's Pizza Lisburn Road

Pizza is a simple joy in my life, an often too frequent treat, I don't think there is a comfort food I enjoy more than the Italian favourite! I was very privileged to be invited to an awesome wedding on Saturday night (Congratulations Mr & Mrs DeMeulemeester) at the Balmoral Hotel but Vodka from 4pm was a mistake - I woke up with that feeling that only food can cure, I wouldn't say I was hungover but I couldn't have went for a run. I Needed Pizza!

Off to Green's I went, just opposite Cranmore Park on the Lisburn Road this little gem was originally called Pizza The Action and my very own mother (ma Hogan) worked there in the early 1900's, only joking she was there about 1992! An authentic pizzeria, Greens has been delivering top food to Belfastians for over 20 years but what I want to tell you about today is their lunch offer! Probably the BEST VALUE lunch deal I have come across since starting the Blog!

OK so they offer a fantastic lunch deal Mon - Sun, 12 - 4pm for £7.95 and for this you get half a 10" pizza or a pasta dish accompanied by salad or garlic bread and you also get either a soft drink, glass of wine or beer with that - now I have been to some of our finest bars and can't get a glass of wine for that price so this really is an amazing offer!

Here's how my lunch went!

Starter - Dragon's Tongue Supreme

So I heard about this before and just had to try it! It's kinda like a folder garlic dough lathered in a secret spicy sauce and topped with mozzarella and baked in a clay oven - honestly, probably my favourite starter I've ever had - it was beautiful, tasty, moreish and definitely helped me recover from the wedding. It was a generous size too! Here'a a wee image to wet your appetite..yummm

Main Course - The Gilroy Twister (created by Craig Gilroy Ulster Rugby)

So I decided to go all out and upgrade my pizza to half a 12" for an extra £1, I totally recommend this as the pizzas are amazingly good! Stringy cheese, a mountain of toppings and a crispy crust all help make this one of Belfast's Best Pizzas! Lauren went for the Ferris Wheel Pizza, another Ulster Rugby inspired pizza! I won't bore you with all the toppings, I'll let the pics speak for themselves!

So my pizza is on the left hand side and Laurie's is on theright, as you can see Lauren was also suffering from the night before and she tucked in before I had even took a photo - we are now divorced.

Greens

A cosy little place with exposed brickwork (love this), funky art and friendly staff! Keep an eye out for their Facebook offers, check their other dishes out on Instagram and I def advise all of you to try this place! Total bill for the two of us came to £17.90 - I once paid £19.90 for a double Vodka and Redbull in Thompsons - just let that sink in! PIZZA WINS

I've attached their pizza menu below but they have just started doing pasta dishes including Lasagne so I may have to make another visit! Based on value for money but more importantly taste I give Greens...
