Beef & Bird

Next up on my food journey was a short trip to Lisburn's newest and funkiest eatery - Beef & Bird! Situated in the very popular Omniplex Complex Beef & Bird have taken the bold step of competing with a host of food outlets at this complex!

Those of you familiar to Lisburn will no doubt recognise the name Del Toro - one of the city's most prestigious restaurants, and Beef & Bird is Anton and Bronagh Campbell's newest venture. It is a total change from Del Toro which is known as being a more intimate place - perfect for a wee date whereas B&B really appeals to the family market - which is a smart move considering they are right beside a bowling alley, cinema and leisure centre - great for a family day out!

The Restaurant

What struck me and Laurie straight away was the quirky layout - as soon as you walk in you're met with these massively cool Cow Barns and Chicken Stocks which not only live up to the name but provide an awesome private eating experience, and I reckon the kids would love it! There are also regular tables for 1-2-1 eating, longer picnic style dining available and a more traditional restaurant layout upstairs. When you go though I'd def ask for one of the Barns - funky dining.

The Food

So they have definitely taken inspiration from the american eating culture - and as the name suggests there is a lot of steak and chicken on the menu and they also have 7 vegetarian options to choose from and a gluten free menu, bravo! So the menu consisted of Burgers, Stacks, Fajitas and other favourites!

For starters you could pick from soup, calamari or cheesy garlic bread among others, I went for the Chorizo Mac N Cheese Popcorn at £4.95- which I have now renamed as - 'The Bowl of Delight' it was absolutely beautiful! Cheesy with a bit of heat and it came on a wee salad with a super mustard dressing - superb. Laurie went for the loaded potato skins costing £5.50 and these came smothered in cheese and loaded with bacon - tasty, tasty, tasty.

for mains I picked the Philli-Cheese Steak Sandwich with Sweet Potato fries at £10.75. The steak was so well cooked, melt in your mouth and the sour dough bread had been brushed in some sort of pesto dressing which added a whole new element to the dish. I really enjoyed this and would def get it again. Wee Laurence went for The Royale (£10.95) steak burger with monterey jack cheese, smoky bacon and BBQ Sauce inside a brioche bun - I am a big fan of Brioche burger buns - I recently watched a programme on the Food Network (yes I am that sad) where they argued that a brioche bun meant it wasn't a real burger - garbage! I took a few bites of this humongous burger and I was well impressed. Have a quick peak below...(SLIDESHOW)

Pros

- A very diverse menu

- Excellent staff - big shout out to Lyndsey who was our server

- Local produce - you can buy locally brewed beers!!! :) and get some Drayne's Ice Cream

- Wheelchair Accessible with downstairs lavatory access

- Desserts - we shared the Brownie Sundae - oh my lord

Cons

(I am being very picky here)

- Some people with love this btw - the portion sizes were huge, a lot will say that this is a great thing but from a personal view I like a wee bit less - I couldn't finish my meal so Lynsdey packed it up in a takeaway box - breakfast was tasty

Final Note - what a great offer this is!

I had a really enjoyable meal - I def went away feeling full and I'll def be back - Thanks to Samantha at Rumour Mill PR for the kind invite and continued support!
