Belfast Cookery School

I was stuck for a birthday present for my nearest and dearest and while browsing the internet found a review for the Belfast Cookery School. Present sorted I booked both of us on the ‘Cook Your Own Lunch’ session on 12 August 2016 at 1230.

We arrived at the back door of the Mourne Seafood restaurant and were greeted by the very friendly chef Stephen Jeffers. He gave us our menu and instructions for the class and we chatted with our fellow chefs.

The class was quite small with about 10 budding chefs there. Our lunch was Linguine, asparagus, peas, double cream, pecorino, fennel and rocket. Yum. Stephen put us at our ease and explained what we would be doing. We gathered around his work station and he cooked the lunch. Stephen was great, and provided lots of helpful hints (put your garlic in at the same time as your onion, as most people don’t’ cook it enough) We watched Stephen, took notes and then got cooking ourselves.

Cooking was great fun. Myself and the hubbie were side by side. Stephen let us cook and walked about to ensure we were ok and knew what we were doing. Once the meal was cooked we went to sit down and had the perfect accompaniment, a glass of cold white wine.

The lunch was only £17.50 per person, a real bargain. We cooked a fabulous easy meal in a professional kitchen and were able to eat our lunch with our fellow budding chefs. I would definitely recommend and would love to try one of the 3 hour steak/seafood night.
