So after a short blogging break I am back and ready to Blog my ass off- WooHoo! In this short blog I'll share a birthday celebration, introduce you to 3 fabulous places to brush away the January blues and briefly explain what's next for the BFB.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY....to me! WOW the Blog turned 1 year old yesterday, and what a year it's been, 55 blogs, a reach of just over 1 million and around 8000 followers has made me realise how lucky I am to be doing this hobby - from meeting some great people to eating most of Belfast's finest foods I have had a blast - Thank you all because with out your help to share, like and comment the blog would just be me uploading photos of food...
Ok so moving on to the most important topic - let's talk food, over the festive period, although the blog was quiet my eating quest was still ongoing and I have put together 3 places you must try in January, I don't really care when you try them but you must try them!
FOR BREAKFAST
Miel et Moi - 703 Lisburn Rd, Belfast BT9 7HP
I am a massive breakfast fan and over Christmas I tried a few...ok a lot... of different places for breakfast and this was my fav. A really elegant place you will pay that Lisburn Rd premium but believe me, it's worth it! I went for the Eggs Benedict at £8.95 - 2 beautiful poachers on a toasted English muffin with sliced avocado, smokey bacon and a delightful Hollandaise, there were also a few cherry tomatoes thrown into the mix - were these the best Eggs Benedict I've ever had?...Yes, they have stolen the crown from The National. For those of you aren't egg fans (the shame) there are also a few other choices - the menu isn't massive with 8 choices and Laurie got the Brioche French Toast with fresh fruits coming in at a very acceptable £5.50- I obviously tried these, and again, top top food! Well Done Miel et Moi. The interior is luxurious, high velvet seats and panelled walls add to the atmosphere, elegant sophisticated dining
FOR LUNCH
Dina Dina - 52 Upper Arthur St, Belfast BT1 4GJ
So I know I have blogged about here before but some exciting news came my way when I heard they were adding Pizza to the menu - famous throughout inner Belfast for their Piadinas Dina Dina have went full blown Italian on us and unleashed authentic Pizzas for us to savour - I was lucky enough to try these before they went on sale.
With 11 pizzas to choose from including a tasty vegetarian, the option to sit in, take away or use Deliveroo there really is no excuse for not going here - P.S. my fav pizza was the SFIZIOSA - Salame Milano, Scarmorza Smoked cheese, Tomato Sauce and Mozzarella. With new opening hours (Friday and Saturday until 9pm) and with 12" pizzas staring at only £6.50 I order you to go...stop reading this and go! My fav bit about here is the people though, if you're lucky you will run into some real Italians eating there (so it must be good) and if not you can always grab a chat with Alex, head chef, owner and all round dude. Here's a few pics to tempt you.
FOR DINNER
Square Bistro - Lisburn Square, 18 Lisburn Square, Lisburn BT28 1TS
Quickly becoming my favourite place to eat, newly refurbished, modern, charming, an extremely talented head chef and incredible prices make this a must for everyone - I challenge you to go here and not have a good, scrap that amazing meal! Making the most of local produce and with a real emphasis on presentation Square BIstro is simply a wonderful place to dine - picking up awards left right and centre - if this place was in the heart of Belfast you'd wait months on a table. FACT.
Me and Laurie headed here for our Christmas Date Night - every 23rd (engagement date and Bill's Birthday) we go for a meal and this year we didn't even have to think of where to go - I got soup to start with homemade wheaten served with Abernathy Butter (Best Butter Ever) and Laurie got HamHock Bon Bons (Check out the presentation below) For mains I went for the Christmas Dinner - you may think this is boring but I actually didn't get that many Christmas Dinner's this year and Carol (mum in Law) didn't even keep me ham for Boxing Day sarnies!
Laurie got the Chicken Supreme with Dauphinoise potatoes and we shared some sort of Ferrero Rocher heaven thing - I don't even have words to describe...
So there it is, my top 3 places to visit to beat the January blues! What's next for me, well somehow I have signed up to do a healthy week with No Limits Fitness and Strength so look out for some healthy meal recipes, a few home workouts and a hopefully slimmer Conor.
Thanks for all the love over my first year of Blogging - I have had a great year and I hope 2017 is kind to us all!
Cheers
Conor x
