Have you ever Wanted to...

Have you ever Wanted to travel the globe, visit different parts of the world and explore different cultures but just don't have the time? Well that is where the team at Wanted.Coffee come into play...if you, like me, are a coffee lover, then you are in for a real treat!

A project created in Northern Ireland, Wanted.Coffee allows you to experience the best coffee from all over the world - they only use micro-plants to source their beans meaning that extra care and a wee bit of love goes into each bag - whether it be from Brazil, Sumatra, Columbia or wherever, you (and me) get the chance to try some super, super Coffee.

So a relatively new NI business Wanted.Coffee recently sponsored the ever popular Food NI Hour (monday nights on Twitter 9pm-10pm) and I was extremely lucky to be invited down to see what it's all about. Working out of one of the coolest offices I've seen this team devote their time to tasting, sourcing and travelling (the heartache they endure just for us) the world to find the best and most Wanted coffee out there.

When I arrived I was introduced to Scottish Paul, a Glaswegian Coffee Wizard - Paul was there to brew our coffee, explain the origin, identify the notes and teach us a little about the coffee...so what did I learn?

The Perfect Coffee

When making a coffee the idea recipe is 21 grams of coffee beans to 300ml of boiling water - well I say boiling but in fact the best way to enjoy coffee is to let the water cool for around 2 minutes before pouring, why? I'm glad you asked - it's all about extraction of the flavours, if the water is too hot then the coffee will taste bitter. (ever tasted a bitter coffee, terrible)

If using a cafeteire you should warm the cafeterie before adding your ground coffee - add some boiling water and give her a good swirl, another top tip is to add the water carefully and gradually - this will allow the C02 release and allow the coffee to extract all the notes - this is called the 'bloom'

Finally you should allow your coffee to rest for 2-4 minutes - this all depends on personal taste however so I suggest you order and find a way to suit you!
