Bienvenido a Mexico - via Alibi!
Located in Belfast's famous Queen's Quarter Te'Kila is Belfast's newest pop-up restaurant. Offering authentic Mexican classics such as Tostadas and Quesadillas as well as some of the tastiest cocktails I have ever tried Te'Kila is definitely a venue you'll want to visit, but you better be like Speedy Gonzales as it's only here for 18 weeks!
23-31 Bradbury Place, Queen’s Quarter, Belfast BT7 1RR
I headed on Thursday night with a few friends to see what all the fuss was about! The theme was strong with nice features throughout, look out for the mini cactus and skulled sharing table - add to that the Mexican blankets, sombreros and hot sauce and you're in for a treat.
So after a quick tour it was food time - here you have a decent choice of 4 starters; Guacamole (V) , Prawns, Wings or Aguacate Frito (V) - we decided to get a mixture of the first 3 and shared them, I liked this idea as I got to try a bit of everything (we got two portions of wings as Dan eats a lot).
We also ordered drinks at this stage; 1 Despojito (outstanding) 1 Black Raspberry Margarita and 2 Desperados - a bit like Corona only nicer....ohhhh controversial. I thought it was better anyway!
Here's the pics
P.S you get loads of wings and they are super tasty! Also if getting the nachos I'd recommend asking for some sour creme! Guacamole was zingy!
There was a nice break between courses - We may have got more cocktails....
When picking your main you have a choice of 4 dish types; Tacos, Tostadas, Bowl or Quesadilla and then you choose your filling from Beef, Chicken, Pork or vegetarian which was great because we got 2 portions of quesdillas and two portion of tacos (which were soft) and mixed the meats - this is definitely a place where you are encouraged to share!
After polishing this off we decided to order another set of cocktails - they really are that good - probably worth a visit on their own if I am honest - this time we, well Ciara and me got more Despajito and Claire ordered The Mexican Cloud.
So, what do you think? would you fancy a Mexican feast - here's a a look at the full menu to sway you. I had a great meal, some fantastic cocktails and the staff were very, very attentive but not pushy! Remember - you only have 18 weeks to dine here so you better be quick!
Thanks for reading and please let me know if you head to Te'Kila - I'll leave you with a Mexican Proverb...
Barriga Ilena , corazon contento - which means; Full stomach, happy heart
Bye for now
