The American Dream

Hi all and welcome to my latest blog about a new Belfast Foodie find! Last Friday night myself and Laurie did date night; are date nights dying? I personally love a wee date but has dating died? Might actually do a blog on that! Anyway back to the topic at hand - my latest foodventure was thanks to Chris at @LovePR who very kindly hooked me up with some vouchers for Brooklyn Sq in Belfast. If you haven't heard of Brooklyn Sq before it has taken the place of Speranzas and added a dollop of American Charm and Superhero Style. I'm going to separate this blog into 3 areas; Food, Interiors & Ideas.

16-19 Shaftesbury Square, Belfast BT2 7DB - 028 9023 0213

Food

So as you'd expect this place offers an array of American styled dishes, from platters to burgers, wraps to steaks and all with the option of some funky sides. But what I like most is that they offer other dishes such as seafood linguine, pizzas and some spicy Mexican Sizzlers!

As well as all the usual suspects they offer a vegetarian menu boasting 6 options such as BBQ Pita Wrap, Vegetarian Lasagne or Fajitas among others. The menu also provides dietary info for those diners who may be Gluten Free (GF) or have intolerances - another NI Blogger 'Gluten Free Fi' (check her out - much better than me) shared the burger pic below when she visited - and it looks a little epic! There's also an extensive drinks menu which offers a range of alcoholic and soft drinks and of course; would it really be an American Eatery if it didn't offer massive milkshakes!!!

Interior & Ideas

So a cool reception offering every man's dream, a retro arcade game including titles such as Mario - (did I mention it's free) is a great way to start your dining experience and the American influence continues throughout the restaurant. Look out for the Superhero shields and cool neon lights scattered throughout. The seats are mixed throughout with;

  1. Circular booths for group gatherings or family dinners

  2. Single tables for maybe a date or friendly catch up

  3. Rectangular for double dates

  4. longer tables for parties etc...

A major bonus for me was how bright the restaurant was, I hate eating in the dark so Brooklyn Sq gets the thumbs up from me!

If the above food or even just the lure of playing the original Mario has gripped you then get yourself down to Brooklyn Sq - I would highly the platter (see above) and I have recently heard they do a mighty Bramble for all you Cocktail lovers!

Thanks for reading - until the next time - have a great week

Conor
